- Earplugs (very important! Takes up no room and ensures many a good night's sleep)
- Binoculars (Something that no-one thinks about and everyone wants to borrow when I fish them out. They need to be small so you don't mind carrying them around, cheap so you won't mind damage to them, and no more powerful than 7x magnification so you can hold them steady without too much effort)
- Digital camera (no-brainer, but avoid using it too often as this will make you think more about your next shot than the journey itself)
- Underwater housing for the camera (Not a necessity. I only have one because I dive at home)
- First Aid kit (Learn how to use it! It's best if you take a first aid course.)
